Description

The ultimate aim of performing rituals of Asthi Visarjan, Pind Daan and Shraddh for our ancestors is to help their soul to attain Moksha. Moksha is liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth and all the sufferings from the limitations of worldly existence. One soul gets Moksha only after Asthi Visarjan & Shraddh. Achieving Moksha is the ultimate aim of every Hindu. The soul is not relieved from the cycle of rebirth and death until one's cremated remains are immersed by the learned Acharyas, who have complete knowledge of Vedas in holy Ganga with full rituals, as described in Garur Puran and Smriti Shastra.

The soul’s destination depends on its collective karma earned from all previous rebirths and reincarnations. When the process of evolution is completed, the soul finally merges and unites with God. To help the soul in this journey with less pain and suffering, as well as make it easier for it to reach its next destination, some last rituals for the Hindu dearly departed have to be performed. The person’s body has to be cremated and the bones and ashen remains have to be immersed in the flowing waters of holy river Ganga. This process of immersion is called the Hindu ritual of Asthi Visarjan.
